Xibalba, gate to the underworld

When our Mexican trip turned in 2012 from Holy Grail/Bucket List journey into amazing reality, there was no doubt of what our choice of abode would be on the Mexican Caribbean coast: a small, beautiful and inspired family owned hotel set in the center of a small Mexican town, Tulum. Tulum, a paradise between the jungle and the sea

When I first got to Tulum, I was wondering if I didn’t arrive to the wrong place: the small and quiet town, with its main street crowded by souvenir shops and restaurants, didn’t quite seem one of the most beautiful places in the world, as described by the self-promotion websites. M/V Argo, diving boat at the Black Sea

I haven’t met yet a scuba aficionado who didn’t long for the boat trip to that dive location where the underwater adventure truly begins. Personally, I’ve felt the lack of dive boats at the Black Sea, the ones I got used to at the Red Sea.

Two new Nudibranch species in Norway

Towards the end of March, for the third year in a row, people from all over Europe gathered at Gulen Dive Resort to learn more about nudibranchs. As usual, the house reef did not disappoint us – two new species turned up on the Norwegian west coast.

Seychelles: a corner of Paradise

Probably one of the most desired attractions in the recreational divers’ community, are the Seychelles islands, a group of 115 islands (officially 155) and islets lost somewhere in the Indian Ocean, north-east of Madagascar, around 1500km away from the black continent, but still in the reaching zone of the Somali pirates. Catania – living in Etna’s lap

There’s this saying: ”Home is where your heart is”; but what do you do when your heart is split in tiny pieces and spread to places all over the world?! Then, maybe you just try to visit all of them as often as you can and enjoy every moment you are given in that particular place. So is Sicily for me. After living here for almost a year, some time ago, I had the opportunity to travel again to this unique spot, this time discovering new places and revisiting old ones. Read the rest of this entry »

Marriott Beach Resort, Taba Heights, Egypt

We went to Taba Heights for one week last year, at the end of July and beginning of August, just to change a bit the homey scenery of Hurghada. We chose Marriott Beach Resort for its reputation, as for the good offer we found. Read the rest of this entry »

Taba Heights, a different Egypt

Traveling to Egypt over and over again has never lost its charm for us. As „regulars” of Hurghada, we’ve tried to squeeze in other locations in the so generous country of the pharaohs. So, last summer, we decided to go the extra mile and reach to the edge of the country, to the east of the Sinai Peninsula, in Taba Heights. Read the rest of this entry »
