Freediving Romania organizes courses

Starting this week (July 16th, 2012), Freediving Romania, through its instructor, Sergiu Şerban, begins this summer’s session of freediving courses.

The offered courses are sanctioned by AIDA (The International Association for Apnea Development) and correspond to orientation and intermediary levels: AIDA* (for novices, beginners without any knowledge, people who are anxious about water or aren’t really sure what freediving is all about and want to try it for the first time), AIDA** (for those comfortable with freediving or at least with the underwater world through snorkeling, scuba diving etc. and who want to extend their freediving skills) and AIDA*** (for divers who already have an AIDA** certification or equivalent and want to further develop their abilities within freediving).

The courses are structured into different sections, as follows: theory, swimming pool and depth. The theoretical and pool sessions take place in Bucharest at the Tineretului swimming pool on Şoseaua Kiseleff or at the Olympic pool in Izvorani, in the weeks that follow (10 students have already registered and will take part in the courses, in groups of maximum 5-6 people), during the evening or the weekend. The depth sessions will take place between August 15th-19th and September 1st-2nd, 2012, at the Black Sea, in Tyulenovo, Bulgaria.

The AIDA* course lasts for one day and doesn’t require a written exam. The AIDA** and AIDA*** courses last for two, respectively three days, and entail a written and practical exam.

The courses are taught in Romanian with the possibility, upon request, to be taught in English. The course materials are provided by the instructor.

Necessary equipment: mask and diving fins (for AIDA** special freediving fins are not mandatory, for AIDA***, yes); for the depth session you will further need a wetsuit and weight belt (can be rented on the spot).

The course prices are ≈66€ (300RON) for AIDA* and ≈109€ (500RON) for AIDA **, respectively AIDA***.

More details about the courses can be found here.
